The Team:

Working within the COO department which is made up of marketing, data, insights, and business transformation/new business development teams. The customer is at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to creating and personalising products to meet their needs and desires, using data and insight to drive these.

Our focus is to engage, inform, inspire and entertain customers with our content, delivering it to them on multiple platforms, whilst maximising customer revenue generation from partnerships, products and business extensions that they trust and value. Advertising revenue plays a key part in the News UK strategy and supporting corporate customers to maximise return on their investment is essential. Growing our digital future is key while maximising our significant print audience.

Your Role: You will Develop, implement and optimise a marketing strategy spanning the entire customer journey, from brand awareness through to brand loyalty and advocacy that supports the long term growth plan for The Times, The Sunday Times and all branded businesses. Develop, articulate and secure The Times and Sunday Times marketing budgets for each financial year

Day to Day:

  • Develop marketing solutions that mitigate risks and new solutions that capitalise on opportunities

  • Ensure TNL subscription acquisition and retention KPIs are being met, by working closely with colleagues in the wider customer hub team

  • Ensure both always-on activity and campaigns are executed to plan and to budget, and that they are continually optimised to maximise ROI, by working closely with colleagues in the customer hub

  • Be the voice of the customer for both titles and branded businesses, ensuring we continually seek ways to improve the customer experience, that customer comms are optimised and effective and that the customer service team is optimising activity whilst upholding standards, by partnering with Product Director to create new core features, benefits, and CX enhancements that will delight and engage current and future customers

  • Co-share (with performance team) ensuring external media agencies deliver to target

  • Work with editorial to set brand guidelines and ensuring all marketing and comms adheres to them

  • Play a pivotal role within the title team, making a meaningful and informed contribution to strategy and day-to-day business planning, feeding into regular reporting and internal communications

  • Work closely with the PR team to ensure earned media supports circulation and commercial growth, whilst showcasing our successes in the industry and internally

  • Develop marketing strategies for all branded businesses and oversee their execution by outsourced agencies and the customer hub, including Times Radio

  • Co-build strategies with the Loyalty team to ensure onboarding, engagement, renewal and Times+ is driving higher retention rates profitably

  • Work with the Product Director and Transformation team to help develop business cases for new products that accelerate topline revenue growth

  • Work alongside and collaborate with key stakeholders across News UK and News Corp, to gather best practices whilst ensuring that TNL learnings are shared with global peers

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing marketing strategy in a large consumer facing environment with multiple products

  • Strong expertise across the marketing mix with understanding of how to work effectively with teams that sit around effective marketing strategy

  • Confidence in presenting and influencing at board level

  • Ability to work alongside and collaborate with key stakeholders across News UK
