The Team:

Working within the COO department which is made up of marketing, data, insights, and business transformation/new business development teams. The customer is at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to creating and personalising products to meet their needs and desires, using data and insight to drive these.

Our focus is to engage, inform, inspire and entertain customers with our content, delivering it to them on multiple platforms, whilst maximising customer revenue generation from partnerships, products and business extensions that they trust and value. Advertising revenue plays a key part in the News UK strategy and supporting corporate customers to maximise return on their investment is essential. Growing our digital future is key while maximising our significant print audience.

Your Role: Working with key stakeholders across The Sun Brand portfolio, the Marketing Director will be responsible for the development and execution of brand marketing strategies for the Title – Driving our position in an increasingly exciting market by creating clear value propositions, messaging, and marketing strategies with the objective of driving new readers/ Audience and revenue.

Day to day:

  • Plan, develop and deliver the marketing strategy across the portfolio to increase brand visibility and awareness, and to drive audience reach and maximise revenue

  • Own go-to-market strategy and oversee implementation for product and feature launches

  • Continuously improve the value of membership by partnering with Product to create new core features, benefits, and CX enhancements that will delight and engage current and future customers

  • Play a pivotal role within the leadership team by making a meaningful and informed contribution to strategy and day-to-day business planning

  • Work with the General Manager to secure budget approval for major marketing projects

  • Work with the creative agency and News UK creative and production teams to create and deliver ads for The Sun, on talkSPORT, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio and for other News UK companies as applicable

  • Work with the media agency to book ATL and paid-for media

  • Lead the strategy for any off-air events ensuring maximum standout and brand awareness for the brands

  • Oversee strategic marketing partnerships and all BTL activity, with the aim of reaching new audiences

  • Lead and commission brand insight projects as applicable

  • Brief internal marketing team and shared services with campaign plans/requirements

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing marketing strategy in a large consumer facing environment with multiple products

  • Strong expertise across the marketing mix with understanding of how to work effectively with teams that sit around effective marketing strategy

  • Confidence in presenting and influencing at board level

  • Ability to work alongside and collaborate with key stakeholders across News UK

  • Strong understanding of national mid-market audience and sport,
